Question:

after changing people’s diets over and over to improve skin problems, it seems to me that what these folks really have in common is: WATER-WATER-WATER! Low carb? Low calorie? Low fat? Low glycemic? 50yr/female/5′10"/wearing size 14 jeans! I am learning HOW to eat, WHAT to eat, and WHY I eat! Read and Post, everyday! Rosie – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I am interested to hear from anybody who has noticed a significant change in their acne, for better or worse, when they went to a new diet or WOE. I know of people that got improvement from a gluten-free diet (a low-carb diet would be very low gluten). I know others that got improvement from a dairy-free diet. So I suspect just what food is behind people’s acne depends on the person. Don (at panix com).

I am interested to hear from anybody who has noticed a significant change in their acne, for better or worse, when they went to a new diet or WOE.  Especially interested in hearing from over-30 females, since it can be different at 20 and for men.  I’m thinking about what diet to do and I don’t insist that it help my acne, but I would rather not do one that made it worse.  Thanks a bunch!

I saw some improvement when I started lowcarbing, and more when I got serious about that 64 ounces of water. I suspect the water is the real key. I don’t have a bad acne problem, but break out like clockwork right before my cycle. Still happens but it’s only 1 tiny this month. — http://www.panix.com/~ilaine 162/140/135 since 3/16/98 counting down: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 …

Oh yes, Sylvester Stallone wife (Jennifer Flavin) is part of the sales force that promotes the line.  She is a former model, turned amazingly rich wife of action hero fella.  I found the toll free # 1-800-540-8662. Flipping back to TSC Canada. Carrie – Polishing my amazing skin LOL

I have found a cosmetic line (even affordable) that seems to keep it under control now. <snip of the rest i’ve started getting some incredibly painful ones along the jaw/ mouth.   YOWCH Liz "Who speaks ill of others to you will speak ill of you to others."

Oh, geeshh, sorry Liz :0).  I bought Serious Skin (has glycolic, salicylic acids).  No, I don’t sell it!  I bought it off the Shopping Channel here in Canada.  (should be available in the US, too)  Dam, the stuff is a freaking miracle.  I only bought it knowing that I’d send it back it didn’t make a Noticable difference – and I was SERIOUS about that!.  Well, its been 10 days and my skin is amazing.  The breakouts are minimal and quick to say the least.  But, I can’t get over how nice my skin is.   Good Luck – let me know if you try it

Diet and nutrition do play an important role in how skin looks and feels. Remember too that for some acne occurs  a few days following ingestion of food that they have mild reactions to anyway.  The exact cause of acne is not yet known. Additionally there is a form of acne that women over the age of 25 get that occurs usually until menopause.  The lesions are located in the chin area and probably linked to an increase in the male hormone androgen.  (Curious too that the lesions occur in the same area that these same women notice "whiskers" coming in.) Unfortunately acne is a chronic disease with flare ups occurring intermittently although with lessening intensity for those who have found dietary changes beneficial.  (that would be me :^) For more info on acne please see:  "Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment" Michael Danbury, ed. K:         You are such a wealth of info!  The chin and jawline acne is hormones, I’m sure of it (the stoooooopid chin hairs – pluck, pluck-ouch).  Sometimes with me, the flare ups are so bad and painful.  I have found a cosmetic line (even affordable) that seems to keep it under control now.  But the BEST medicine was water and of course quitting smoking (for me anyway).  Horrific stress will also bring on acne in some (myself included).         Hey, your numbers are looking great!  Congrats! That doesn’t make much sense to me, actually toothpaste is a great thing to put on zits since it will dry them out better than acne treatments, granted it does dry out the skin so I usually only do it on those once in a while monster zits.  but they are usually gone overnight with a little toothpaste.   alot of it can come from the oils in your hair as well, I only break out before my TOM so for about a week before I will sleep with my hair up and make sure I have clean pillowcases. and it usually helps sometimes I don’t break out at all. It might have been in one of Paula Begoun’s books.
