Susan, Since you are new, you don’t know…but EVERYTHING that you told ‘frugal’ has been said a million times. He and Roose and other trolls don’t give a shit about anything except trying to sound like they know something. Which they don’t. And you can’t win an argument, because that’s the whole purpose of their existence…arguing the opposite of anything. It must make up for a lack of penis size is all I can figure out. Roose is a troll for many newsgroups and I don’t know about ‘frugal’ because really, why waste my time looking? All I know is they love to egg the newbies on and the not so newbies like myself often get sucked into the banter. I must admit I do tend to answer the more stupid comments that piss me off. I must try harder to ignore them and realize that some people get their jollies on the internet instead of having a real life. I mean, look how often they post!! It’s as if they spend all freaking day on the computer! Oh well, hang in there Susan. This really is a support group. You just have to ignore the troll talk. Good luck! Jan

| I’ve lost many times on the low-fat diets and always gained it back so |that is a stupid argument. In fact you or your crony said 95% of people do. Apparently you don’t know what the word "pathologically" means, "Roose." Allow me to enlighten you– http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=pathologically Now, let’s see: her diet didn’t harm her vis-a-vis the study of pathology, so definition 1 is out. Her diet didn’t harm her in a way that was relating to or caused by a disease, so definition 2 is out. And her diet didn’t harm her in a way that manifested behavior that was habitual, maladaptive, and compulsive, so definition 3 is out. I wonder what you actually meant? Please remember this the next time you try to "correct" someone else’s medical knowledge. | Just because it isn’t what your body experiences |doesn’t mean others are the same. Honestly, are you jealous or something? To have a program that works for people in which they do NOT have to suffer is not a bad thing! You must be someone who thinks diets should be painful in order to work. Well, this WOE isn’t the least bit hard. Sorry. This IS a magic ‘free lunch’ and it’s delicious! Yes, I believe calories do count…however…(and you keep ignoring this fact) there’s a NATURAL loss of appetite resulting from a low carb diet. Hence, lower calories! Difference being that we are not bemoaning the lack of food. Most of us have to force ourselves to eat when we are in ketosis. And, if it is so unhealthy, why should you give a shit? No one’s forcing a double cheeseburger (no bun) down your throat. So what is your problem–besides being woefully illiterate? On second thought…don’t answer that. No one really cares what you think. Right. They work because they limit carbs to high-nutrient, high-fiber vegetables (instead of refined flour, etc.) Do some google searches on analysis of their reccomended menus – they are all VERY low calorie.
Frugal, you are even dumber than I thought you were (and that’s quite an achievement). A recommended Atkins menu isn’t "very low calorie" by USDA standards (I’m sure there’s some comparable Canadian thingie, too). The daily suggested menus in "Dr. Atkins’s New Diet Revolution" are 1800-2200 calories; the daily suggested menus I’ve seen in Zone and Schwarzbein materials run about the same. That’s just about the USDA recommended. There is no magic free lunch – its the alw of thermodynamics…a calorie is a calorie….calories consumed-calories burned = +/- weight….
Let’s say that you’re correct. What would be wrong with losing weight on Atkins, then, if you ate a variety of real foods (fresh vegetables, meat, chicken, fish, and dairy)? Why would it be worse than losing weight on Ornish? And wouldn’t it be *better* than gaining weight and feeling exhausted on a high-carb diet, which is the experience lots of the posters had here? Obviously it seems you can eat a lot and still lose wight, but thats because of the pile you all must have been chomping back to get to that 2-300 lb girth.
I can only speak for myself, but I know that I couldn’t eat enough high-carb low-fat food to keep my energy up while losing weight. I have no trouble with energy or weight loss in my current way of eating. You, on the other hand, seem to be developing serious cognitive and emotional problems on your way of eating. You’re obsessed with other people’s food intake; you can’t write a coherent English sentence; you’ve admitted yourself to binge drinking; and you obviously have no friends or you wouldn’t be debasing yourself to try to make friends with "Roose." Answer me if you dare, coward. T.

frugal Why are you spending so much time criticizing the people on this board? What concern is it to you? If Atkins or any version of low-carbing is working for them than good. Not everyone’s body works the same and that is why there are so many conflicting reports on diets. It doesn’t hurt to try it. If you cannot be supportive of people who are trying to deal with their real problems of weight loss, than please don’t post on this board. Exactly, crash diets don’t work. People even lose on Atkins low calorie diet(for a while anyway), regardless of health consequences. You need lifestyle change. Nothing like a
